When Allan Viana came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Barcelos EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Allan Viana couldn't finish the play. In the 39th match minute, Brasil Pelotas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonas Baiano to maneuver through the defense. In the 44th minute, Orlando Lago got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Orlando Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benedito Gaspar having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After a defensive mix-up in Brasil Pelotas's zone, Allan Viana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilberto Barros came out of the goal and Allan Viana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Brasil Pelotas's goalkeeper Gilberto Barros, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The corner led Barcelos EC's Genílson Linares to fire away a dangerous shot which Gilberto Barros despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Dino Recife came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Brasil Pelotas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dino Recife couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Fernandinho Trancoso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gilberto Barros was relentless in the 88th minute of the game.
