After 3 played minutes Pupunhas got a freekick which was hit by Artur Mangueira. Osmar da Silveira was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 3rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 12 minutes into the game, Gauer FC's Egídio Matorin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Júlio Freitas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Alexsandro Dantas made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Perivaldo de Godoy sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Gauer FC booed when Pupunhas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Perivaldo de Godoy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gauer FC's Alexsandro Dantas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Gauer FC from getting a goal against them. Nilmar Guerra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Alexsandro Dantas made a huge save. Gauer FC's Egídio Matorin got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doni Meireles in the 32nd minute of play forced Gauer FC's goalkeeper Alexsandro Dantas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Pupunhas's zone, Egídio Matorin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Júlio Freitas came out of the goal and Egídio Matorin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alexsandro Dantas made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Perivaldo de Godoy sent off a good shot on target. Egídio Matorin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Júlio Freitas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alexsandro Dantas made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Nilmar Guerra sent off a good shot on target. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 57th minute, José Maria Neto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alexsandro Dantas was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Alexsandro Dantas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dedê Faria went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. After 67 minutes of play, Pupunhas's José Maria Neto made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alexsandro Dantas was left in no man's land by his defense there! Hélder Alcântara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. The referee ordered Artur Mangueira off the ground. After a rather tough play, Pupunhas's Artur Mangueira got a free kick in the 91st minute. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Pupunhas fully deserved thier win.
