Jorge Paiva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Erik Rodrigues made a huge save. 39 minutes into the game, Manuel Leite cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Joélson Rocha was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 42nd minute, Leandro Ferraz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joélson Rocha was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Joélson Rocha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leandro Ferraz, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. The supporters of Portuguesa booed when Alpinino FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Washington Vergílio didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Alpinino FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
