Alfredão Dante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorge Paiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Raí Mineiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Sombreiro booed when Portuguesa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Breno Bastos didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 32 played minutes, Sombreiro's João Francisco Zilles shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Joélson Rocha came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. The corner led Sombreiro's João Francisco Zilles to fire away a dangerous shot which Joélson Rocha despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
