When Ramón Soares fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mariopolis SC's protests and gave Ramón Soares a yellow card for diving instead. Herva's Leandro Barros got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. During the 19th minute of the match Ramón Soares completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Ramón Soares a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Ramón Soares kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Leandro Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd match minute, Mariopolis SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedrinho Aguiar to maneuver through the defense. 33 minutes into the match, Mariopolis SC's goalkeeper Faustão Bertassi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leandro Barros. Mariopolis SC's Ismael de Amorim got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Doriva Barral charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Doriva Barral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Herva getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Doriva Barral hit a great ball. Afonsinho Hames received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Edgar Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Afonsinho Hames made a kick off. After 57 minutes, Luizinho de Carvalho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mariopolis SC and the Herva players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Herva booed when Mariopolis SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luizinho de Carvalho didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ismael de Amorim during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 60 played minutes Mariopolis SC got a freekick which was hit by Ismael de Amorim. In the 61st minute, Olavo Alagoano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Leandro Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faustão Bertassi having to interfere. Faustão Bertassi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bernardinho Andrade in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Faustão Bertassi saved Mariopolis SC from getting behind. Faustão Bertassi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leandro Barros's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. Afonsinho Hames sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 85 minutes into the game, Ismael de Amorim recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Edgar Montenegro. Ismael de Amorim showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. Ismael de Amorim hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. 93 minutes into the match, Mariopolis SC's goal looked a bit too open when Leandro Barros came free, but Faustão Bertassi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mariopolis SC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
