The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Genílson das Neves's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ronaldinho Barbosa was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. With an all-out effort, Pensamento SC's Dário Velloso threw himself towards the right post 8 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Célio Neiva, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Erasmo de Mendonça had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 21st minute Célio Neiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dário Velloso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erasmo de Mendonça received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Dário Velloso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Genílson das Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nilmar Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 33 minutes into the match, Jampruca SS's goalkeeper Dário Velloso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Erasmo de Mendonça. After 35 minutes, Vinícius Breckenfeld mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jampruca SS and the Pensamento SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Jampruca SS fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 34th minute. Penalty! 41 minutes into the match, Erasmo de Mendonça had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dário Velloso. Jampruca SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Erasmo de Mendonça was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. In the 47th minute of the match Guto Loyola shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dário Velloso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nilmar Travassos was the one to do the kick off. 56 minutes into the match, Jampruca SS's goal looked a bit too open when Váldson Severo came free, but Dário Velloso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Nilmar Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Nilmar Travassos kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ronaldinho Barbosa. That made the score 2-1 in the 74 minute of play. Nilmar Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 84 minutes into the game, Caio Vasconcelos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jampruca SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pensamento SC the free kick. The supporters of Pensamento SC booed when Jampruca SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caio Vasconcelos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dário Velloso came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Pensamento SC's Célio Neiva. But to his dismay, Célio Neiva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Jampruca SS's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
