With an all-out effort, Hassim Kateua's Ronaldinho Barbosa threw himself towards the right post 3 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Yuri Galvão, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 4 minutes into the match, Hassim Kateua's goal looked a bit too open when Váldson Severo came free, but Gilmar Cordeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zé Furtado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronaldinho Barbosa having to interfere. Yuri Galvão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Ronaldinho Barbosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gilmar Cordeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Célio Neiva in the 23rd minute of the match. Zacarias Linhares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 32nd minute, Yuri Galvão reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ronaldinho Barbosa. The goal made the score 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Célio Neiva in the 37th minute of play forced Hassim Kateua's goalkeeper Gilmar Cordeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 43 minutes into the game, Michel Meira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hassim Kateua's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pensamento SC the free kick. Michel Meira hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Pensamento SC's Abelardo Valle got a free kick in the 48th minute. Yuri Galvão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 50th minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Célio Neiva to make the kick off. After 55 played minutes Hassim Kateua got a freekick which was hit by Falcão Sá. The crowd rose to their feet as Erasmo de Mendonça kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gilmar Cordeiro. That made the score 1-1 in the 60 minute of play. With a little luck, Hassim Kateua's Gilmar Cordeiro got control of the ball when Erasmo de Mendonça tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gilmar Cordeiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Erasmo de Mendonça in the 65th minute. Hassim Kateua:s Gilmar Cordeiro showed great skill when he stopped Guto Loyola:s penalty. After a defensive mix-up in Pensamento SC's zone, Ademar Negri stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronaldinho Barbosa came out of the goal and Ademar Negri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 73rd minute Walmyr Valladares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldinho Barbosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 77 minutes, Walmyr Valladares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hassim Kateua's supporters crossed their fingers, but Walmyr Valladares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 79th minute Célio Neiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilmar Cordeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gilmar Cordeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Célio Neiva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
