If Walmir Matorin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 17 minutes into the game, Gilberto Mineiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Suassurana's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Baianopolis the free kick. After 17 played minutes Suassurana got a freekick which was hit by Gilberto Mineiro. Osmar Pombal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliézer Ramalho having to interfere. Alexsandro Seco hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Fabrício Sena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Eliézer Ramalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, Osmar Pombal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eliézer Ramalho. Baianopolis's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Osmar Pombal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabrício Sena in the 29th minute of play forced Baianopolis's goalkeeper Eliézer Ramalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Baianopolis's goalkeeper Eliézer Ramalho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Olavo Seco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frank Hoffmann read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. In the 33rd minute Olavo Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Hoffmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Baianopolis's defense didn't have a chance, in the 35th minute, when Flávio Couto scored to the left of an out of position Eliézer Ramalho, making the score, 3-0. Osmar Pombal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 42 minutes into the game, Fabrício Sena recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Eliézer Ramalho. Fabrício Sena showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Osmar Pombal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Suassurana's supporters rose to their feet, but Osmar Pombal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eliézer Ramalho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fabrício Sena to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Osmar Pombal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eliézer Ramalho was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. Baianopolis's Eliézer Ramalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabrício Sena in the 61st minute of play. Alexsandro Seco kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Jeremias Barreto, 69 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Eliézer Ramalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osmar Pombal in the 73rd minute of play. Silas de Brito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Frank Hoffmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. During the 75th minute of the match Gilberto Mineiro completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Gilberto Mineiro a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Gilberto Mineiro kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. In the 82nd minute, Olavo Seco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fabrício Sena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cafu Simões hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Osmar Pombal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Eliézer Ramalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Osmar Pombal blasted a shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eliézer Ramalho having to make a save. Eliézer Ramalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osmar Pombal in the 96th minute of play. Baianopolis's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
