In the 12th minute, Marcelo Dantas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. José Maria Guimarães kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Itamarandyba's Jean Berger threw himself towards the right post 18 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luizão Nóbrega, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Waldir Arruda's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 20thth minute, Jean Berger skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Betão Mangueira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nacional Football Team's supporters rose to their feet, but Betão Mangueira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fernandão Velasco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Nacional Football Team's Jean Berger got control of the ball when Waldir Arruda tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Nacional Football Team booed when Itamarandyba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Léo Leal didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Itamarandyba getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Daniel Falcão hit a great ball. After the first half Nacional Football Team were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Silas Xavier stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rony Vaz hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. The Itamarandyba fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. When Betão Mangueira came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Nacional Football Team fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Betão Mangueira couldn't finish the play. Betão Mangueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Fernandão Velasco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Silas Xavier hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Jean Berger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Waldir Arruda in the 74th minute of play. Rony Vaz's late challenge caught a Nacional Football Team's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rony Vaz helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Itamarandyba getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Rony Vaz hit a great ball. Jean Berger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Waldir Arruda in the 83rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Itamarandyba's Daniel Falcão got a free kick in the 88th minute. After 92 minutes of play, Itamarandyba's Waldir Arruda made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jean Berger was left in no man's land by his defense there! With 96 minutes on the clock, Benedito Bertassi commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 95 minutes into the game, one of Nacional Football Team:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty.
