Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Arnaldo Valladares started the match with the kick off. After 2 minutes, Dedé Teles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carataca and the Patriota 1980 players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Carataca's Dedé Teles got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Chiquinho Netto struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Arnaldo Mumbach didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Patriota 1980. Arnaldo Valladares might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Oséas Tavares. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arnaldo Valladares ran back to his position shaking his head. Benê Rosa kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Carataca's Ramiro Penha tried to score from far away in the 11th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Fernão Jacinto charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fernão Jacinto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 17th minute, Fernão Jacinto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fernão Jacinto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Oséas Tavares made a huge save. Arnaldo Mumbach made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Vander in the 25th minute of play. In the 28th match minute, Patriota 1980 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benê Rosa to maneuver through the defense. 30 minutes into the game, Vágner de Sena cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Arnaldo Mumbach was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 38 minutes, José Vítor de Moraes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Patriota 1980 and the Carataca players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 38th match minute, Patriota 1980 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Vítor de Moraes to maneuver through the defense. Fernão Jacinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oséas Tavares having to interfere. After the first half Patriota 1980 were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vágner de Sena made a kick off. Ramiro Penha's late challenge caught a Patriota 1980's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ramiro Penha helped the player get up and apologised. After 53 played minutes Carataca got a freekick which was hit by Ramiro Penha. In the 54th minute, Chiquinho Netto sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Carataca's Arnaldo Mumbach didn't even have to move. The supporters of Carataca booed when Patriota 1980 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benê Rosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 57th minute of the match Ramiro Penha shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Oséas Tavares showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Arnaldo Vander could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Arnaldo Mumbach made a huge save. Arnaldo Vander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arnaldo Mumbach made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vágner de Sena in the 68th minute of play. Arnaldo Vander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 76 minutes into the match, Carataca's goalkeeper Arnaldo Mumbach had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arnaldo Vander. When Simão Guedes fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Patriota 1980's protests and gave Simão Guedes a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Patriota 1980 getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Simão Guedes hit a great ball. Arnaldo Mumbach made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arnaldo Vander in the 83rd minute. After a rather tough play, Carataca's Dedé Teles got a free kick in the 88th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Carataca's zone, Arnaldo Vander stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arnaldo Mumbach came out of the goal and Arnaldo Vander tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 91 minutes, Arnaldo Vander managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Patriota 1980's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnaldo Vander was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arnaldo Mumbach made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arnaldo Vander in the 93rd minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Patriota 1980 walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
