The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Mucuja's zone, Perivaldo Salles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cláudio Soares came out of the goal and Perivaldo Salles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aníbal de Castro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Osvaldo Cosme, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. When Mucuja's Osvaldo Cosme in the 8th minute got a chance for a shot 8th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Brooklin's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Mucuja's Mauro Campidelis got a free kick in the 17th minute. When Paulão da Rocha came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Brooklin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulão da Rocha couldn't finish the play. After having played for 20 minutes, Paulão da Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brooklin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulão da Rocha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Perivaldo Salles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cláudio Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulão da Rocha in the 27th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Brooklin's Betinho Lopes got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Mucuja's Custódio Alves couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 34th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Brooklin. 38 minutes into the match, Brooklin's Paulão da Rocha sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cláudio Soares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Raúl da Fonseca kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Mucuja's Cláudio Soares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Mucuja from getting a goal against them. After having played for 44 minutes, Pedrão Luz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mucuja's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedrão Luz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Osvaldo Cosme was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Mucuja's zone, Paulão da Rocha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cláudio Soares came out of the goal and Paulão da Rocha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cláudio Soares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Perivaldo Salles in the 55th minute of the match. If Paulão da Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 60 minutes into the match, Paulão da Rocha notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Mucuja's Cláudio Soares. Cláudio Soares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Betinho Lopes hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. After 70 minutes of play, Brooklin's Paulão da Rocha made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cláudio Soares was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Perivaldo Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brooklin's supporters rose to their feet, but Perivaldo Salles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cláudio Soares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 78 minutes, Raúl da Fonseca mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mucuja and the Brooklin players grew even worse after the yellow card. Brooklin's Perivaldo Salles got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cláudio Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulão da Rocha in the 80th minute of play. A collision led to Mucuja getting a freekick after 83 minutes play.
