Taiacu AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Amauri Linares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Geovanni do Vale breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Osmar Perez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Carlos Brodel having to interfere. In the 13th minute, Conrado Rodrigues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 17 minutes into the match, Amauri Linares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Geovanni do Vale. XV de Piracicaba's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Amauri Linares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Régis de Moraes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Carlos Brodel having to interfere. If Osmar Perez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osmar Perez in the 31st minute of play forced Taiacu AD's goalkeeper José Carlos Brodel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Osmar Perez came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the XV de Piracicaba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Osmar Perez couldn't finish the play. Olavo Félix fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geovanni do Vale having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, Taiacu AD's goal looked a bit too open when Osmar Perez came free, but José Carlos Brodel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Osmar Perez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Carlos Brodel was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. After the first half Taiacu AD were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Osmar Perez made a kick off. Donato Lago kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. The referee showed Donato Lago the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Donato Lago was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 64 minutes had been played. In the 65th match minute, Taiacu AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donato Lago to maneuver through the defense. José Carlos Brodel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osmar Perez in the 66th minute of the match. A collision led to XV de Piracicaba getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Durval dos Santos hit a great ball. Olavo Félix kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Taiacu AD's José Carlos Brodel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Osmar Perez in the 81st minute of play. Amauri Linares could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Geovanni do Vale made a huge save. Régis de Moraes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Carlos Brodel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. In the 95th minute, Gualter de Brito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
