The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Paulo José Pernambucano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Waldemar Cabral, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Rony Salgado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Igor Pereira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rony Salgado got free with Igor Pereira in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mário da Mata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Igor Pereira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mário da Mata in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Igor Pereira saved Leitner from getting behind. If Ronaldinho de Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Osvaldo das Neves hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. When Leitner's Waldemar Cabral in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Americana's goalie prevented a goal. Paulo José Pernambucano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Waldemar Cabral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Leitner getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Armando Alvarenga hit a great ball. In the 23rd minute, Tarcisio Godoi fired a really elegant long shot, but Igor Pereira threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. After 34 played minutes Leitner got a freekick which was hit by Lucas Esteves. Leitner's Igor Pereira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mário da Mata in the 37th minute of play. In the 39th minute Waldemar Cabral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo José Pernambucano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulo José Pernambucano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronaldinho de Amorim in the 42nd minute of the match. In the 48th minute, Rony Salgado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mário da Mata to strike the kick off in the second half. Mário da Mata recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rony Salgado struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Igor Pereira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Americana. In the 64th minute Mário da Mata shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Igor Pereira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 65 minutes into the match, Leitner's goal looked a bit too open when Mário da Mata came free, but Igor Pereira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 65 minutes into the match, Mário da Mata notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Leitner's Igor Pereira. Igor Pereira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 70th minute, Americana's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Waldemar Cabral fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Igor Pereira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Waldemar Cabral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a little luck, Americana's Paulo José Pernambucano got control of the ball when Ronaldinho de Amorim tried to sneak it across the goal line. 87 minutes into the match, Ronaldinho de Amorim dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Paulo José Pernambucano, 2-2. Reinaldo Cardozo's late challenge caught a Leitner's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Reinaldo Cardozo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 92nd match minute, Americana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reinaldo Cardozo to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Lucas Esteves in the 93rd minute really tested Paulo José Pernambucano's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Waldemar Cabral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo José Pernambucano having to interfere. In the 96th minute, Osvaldo das Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Leitner's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Lucas Esteves in the 99th minute. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
