The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Matteco Football's goal looked a bit too open when Jano Travassos came free, but Sandro das Neves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sandro das Neves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Osvaldinho Mazza's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. A collision led to Iuarete AD getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Eusébio Arantes hit a great ball. After 10 minutes, Percival Velloso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Matteco Football and the Iuarete AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Matteco Football's Percival Velloso got a free kick in the 10th minute. The supporters of Matteco Football booed when Iuarete AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maicon Souto didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 23rd match minute, Iuarete AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maicon Souto to maneuver through the defense. Tarcisio Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Maicon Souto fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Iuarete AD's protests and gave Maicon Souto a yellow card for diving instead. After 31 played minutes Iuarete AD got a freekick which was hit by Maicon Souto. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Tarcisio Travassos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Matteco Football's supporters rose to their feet, but Tarcisio Travassos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dinei Loyola breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The supporters of Iuarete AD booed when Matteco Football was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tarcisio Travassos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Osvaldinho Mazza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jano Travassos struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Sandro das Neves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Iuarete AD. In the 68th minute of the match, Tarcisio Travassos got a very nice opportunity to score, but Dinei Loyola was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Tarcisio Travassos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Matteco Football's supporters rose to their feet, but Tarcisio Travassos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dinei Loyola breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 80th minute, Tarcisio Travassos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osvaldinho Mazza in the 83rd minute of play forced Matteco Football's goalkeeper Sandro das Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jano Travassos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandro das Neves having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 86th minute of the game. One of Matteco Football:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Iuarete AD:s goal. Jano Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Iuarete AD's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
