The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nelson Proença charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nelson Proença the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nelson Proença hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. After 7 minutes of play, Cabore AD's Carlos Augusto Ribeiro made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luís Gaúcho was left in no man's land by his defense there! AGUIA DO VALE's Claudinei Ramos got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gildo Porto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dalmo Nascimento having to make a save. If João Ramos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dalmo Nascimento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudinei Ramos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Gildo Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Clemente Amaral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dalmo Nascimento having to interfere. Luís Gaúcho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Ramos in the 41st minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, one of Cabore AD:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Cabore AD. The goalkeeper, Dalmo Nascimento, was totally fooled by AGUIA DO VALE's Jânio Arantes, who 45 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlos Augusto Ribeiro to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gildo Porto in the 53rd minute of play forced Cabore AD's goalkeeper Dalmo Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Reynaldo Mineiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. João Ramos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 58thth minute tested the skills of Luís Gaúcho when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Dalmo Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gildo Porto in the 60th minute of play. In the 62nd minute Claudinei Ramos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dalmo Nascimento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Carlos Augusto Ribeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cabore AD's Dalmo Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gildo Porto in the 70th minute of play. In the 72nd minute of the match Michel Souza shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dalmo Nascimento showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 74 minutes into the match, AGUIA DO VALE's goalkeeper Luís Gaúcho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by João Ramos. With his leg Luís Gaúcho managed to avoid a goal in the 75thth minute, when Cabore AD's João Ramos fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thanks to some nice moves João Ramos could shoot a difficult shot in the 82nd minute, which Luís Gaúcho however easily saved by the left post. João Ramos struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Luís Gaúcho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cabore AD. Reynaldo Mineiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Luís Gaúcho made a huge save. If João Ramos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Carlos Augusto Ribeiro kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Luís Gaúcho. That made the score 1-2 in the 92 minute of play. Luís Gaúcho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Augusto Ribeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The AGUIA DO VALE supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Cabore AD's performance. The match ended with a win for Cabore AD.
