Edgar Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 13 minutes into the game, Carlos Eduardo Silva was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bariqui's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Capitaozinho the free kick. A collision led to Bariqui getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Carlos Eduardo Silva hit a great ball. 15 minutes into the game, Nilson Branco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Capitaozinho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bariqui the free kick. After 15 played minutes Capitaozinho got a freekick which was hit by Nilson Branco. Enio Mandrak's late challenge caught a Bariqui's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Enio Mandrak helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Bariqui booed when Capitaozinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enio Mandrak didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zé Pedro Nunes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Edgar Veiga came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Capitaozinho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edgar Veiga couldn't finish the play. Zé Romero's late challenge caught a Capitaozinho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zé Romero helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Capitaozinho booed when Bariqui was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Romero didn't get a good kick on the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Raí Trigo sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because André Luís Leão threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Raí Trigo this time. André Luís Leão made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Glauco Andrade sent off a good shot on target. In the 38th minute Edgar Veiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Luís Leão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Edgar Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

54 minutes into the match, Bariqui's goal looked a bit too open when Edgar Veiga came free, but André Luís Leão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Enéas Lago during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Bariqui's Enéas Lago got a free kick in the 56th minute. Zé Pedro Nunes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Enéas Lago could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Dudu Quintal made a huge save. In the 68th match minute, Capitaozinho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enio Mandrak to maneuver through the defense. André Luís Leão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgar Veiga, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. After some careless play in the Bariqui defense, Glauco Andrade kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of André Luís Leão. The Bariqui fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that André Luís Leão should have stopped the shot. Capitaozinho's Dudu Quintal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Capitaozinho from getting a goal against them. After having played for 84 minutes, Zé Pedro Nunes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bariqui's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Pedro Nunes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Enéas Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Pedro Nunes in the 89th minute of play forced Capitaozinho's goalkeeper Dudu Quintal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpected shot in the 91st minute by Enéas Lago got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Edgar Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bariqui's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
