The supporters of Arsenal booed when Itaubal SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bebeto Terra didn't get a good kick on the ball. The corner led Arsenal's Juan Mota to fire away a dangerous shot which Gilvan Amorim despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. A collision led to Itaubal SS getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Fiori de Mendonça hit a great ball. Samuca Silva who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 15thth minute tested the skills of Gilvan Amorim when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Juarês Aguiar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 22 minutes into the match, Arsenal's Samuca Silva sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gilvan Amorim narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 23 minutes into the match, Itaubal SS's goalkeeper Gilvan Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Samuca Silva. In the 26th match minute, Arsenal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Mota to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geraldo Garcia in the 31st minute of play forced Arsenal's goalkeeper Raimundo Mesquita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Samuca Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juarês Aguiar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Raimundo Mesquita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juvenal Matos in the 38th minute of play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Raimundo Mesquita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geraldo Garcia, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. The supporters of Itaubal SS booed when Arsenal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Mota didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Itaubal SS were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Geraldo Garcia made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Juarês Aguiar in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilvan Amorim saved Itaubal SS from getting behind. Juarês Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilvan Amorim having to interfere. After 56 played minutes Itaubal SS got a freekick which was hit by Matías de Souza. Gilvan Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuca Silva in the 58th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Itaubal SS's goal looked a bit too open when Samuca Silva came free, but Gilvan Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Samuca Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilvan Amorim having to interfere. When Doni Azevedo fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itaubal SS's protests and gave Doni Azevedo a yellow card for diving instead. Doni Azevedo hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Gláuber Andrade took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 65th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gilvan Amorim. Itaubal SS's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Juvenal Matos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raimundo Mesquita having to interfere. After 68 played minutes Arsenal got a freekick which was hit by Chicão de Toledo. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Juarês Aguiar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Arsenal's supporters rose to their feet, but Juarês Aguiar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilvan Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Itaubal SS's goalkeeper Gilvan Amorim, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Geraldo Garcia struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Raimundo Mesquita didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itaubal SS. After 84 played minutes Itaubal SS got a freekick which was hit by César Tepedino. Gilvan Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juarês Aguiar in the 85th minute of the match. Geraldo Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raimundo Mesquita having to interfere. The Arsenal supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Itaubal SS's performance. The match ended with a win for Itaubal SS.
