Matozinhos's Luisinho Faria played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albertinho Silva in the 3rd minute of play. 5 minutes into the match, Caranduba's goal looked a bit too open when João Vítor Xavier came free, but Giovani Jacinto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Nilson da Fonseca fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Matozinhos's protests and gave Nilson da Fonseca a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Caranduba booed when Matozinhos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilson da Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. Víktor Pimenta's shot from long distance in the 13th minute was not bad at all, but Matozinhos's Luisinho Faria knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. Gustavo Trancoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Caranduba's Gustavo Trancoso got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luisinho Faria took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kauã Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 28 minutes into the match, Matozinhos's goalkeeper Luisinho Faria had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustavo Trancoso. Giovani Jacinto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Vítor Xavier in the 34th minute of play. Valdomiro Teles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Giovani Jacinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38th minute Valdomiro Teles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovani Jacinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Albertinho Silva came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Caranduba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albertinho Silva couldn't finish the play. During the 41st minute of the match Nilson da Fonseca completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Nilson da Fonseca a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 43rd minute, Albertinho Silva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 45 minutes, Gustavo Trancoso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caranduba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gustavo Trancoso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 47thth minute of the game Albertinho Silva who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Matozinhos's Luisinho Faria was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Albertinho Silva was the one to do the kick off. Víktor Oliveira kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. If Gustavo Trancoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. Valdomiro Teles ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Matozinhos getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. João Carlos Vale hit a great ball. In the 70thth minute of the game Gustavo Trancoso who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Matozinhos's Luisinho Faria was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If João Vítor Xavier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luisinho Faria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albertinho Silva in the 77th minute of the match. After 78 played minutes Caranduba got a freekick which was hit by Isaltino Simões. After a defensive mix-up in Matozinhos's zone, Albertinho Silva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luisinho Faria came out of the goal and Albertinho Silva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gustavo Trancoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 95th minute, Albertinho Silva left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Caranduba fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Caranduba fans cheered their team off the field, for while Matozinhos had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
