Gerson Capixaba hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. fsf fc's Valdir Trigo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulão Bittencourt in the 7th minute of play. 9 minutes into the match, Havana Club's goal looked a bit too open when Geovani Vinhas came free, but Luizinho Mesquita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 17 minutes into the game, Havana Club's Dráusio Pernambucano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Valdir Trigo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The supporters of Havana Club booed when fsf fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gerson Capixaba didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Paulão Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Havana Club's defense didn't have a chance, in the 29th minute, when Geovani Vinhas scored to the left of an out of position Luizinho Mesquita, making the score, 1-1. Luizinho Mesquita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geovani Vinhas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dráusio Pernambucano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luizinho Mesquita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geovani Vinhas in the 40th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Havana Club's Hamílton Miranda got a free kick in the 41st minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Paulão Bittencourt was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute of the match Manuel Santana shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luizinho Mesquita showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 53rd minute Geovani Vinhas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luizinho Mesquita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 60 minutes into the match, Geovani Vinhas notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Havana Club's Luizinho Mesquita. Luizinho Mesquita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luizinho Mesquita stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Geovani Vinhas's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Havana Club's goalkeeper Luizinho Mesquita, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 68th minute, Hamílton Miranda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. fsf fc's Geovani Vinhas got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Geovani Vinhas came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the fsf fc fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Geovani Vinhas couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in fsf fc's zone, Dráusio Pernambucano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valdir Trigo came out of the goal and Dráusio Pernambucano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paulão Bittencourt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 89 minutes into the match, Geovani Vinhas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luizinho Mesquita. Havana Club's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Geovani Vinhas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. A collision led to Havana Club getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Hamílton Miranda hit a great ball. Luizinho Mesquita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fábio Gonçalves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Havana Club's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
