The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by José Carlos de Brito during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 7th match minute, Pompa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Carlos de Brito to maneuver through the defense. Cristiano Valadares came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by Pompa's Reinaldo de Castro. But to his dismay, Reinaldo de Castro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 19 minutes into the game, Pompa's João Adolfo Ferreira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cristiano Valadares made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Cristiano Valadares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reinaldo de Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Armando Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Douglas Linares in the 24th minute of play. Armando Carvalho didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luiz Paulo Travassos went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Luiz Paulo Travassos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thiago F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Paulo Travassos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Armando Carvalho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Thiago F.C. booed when Pompa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Carlos de Brito didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th match minute, Pompa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sílvio Luís Azevedo to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Douglas Linares in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Armando Carvalho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Reinaldo de Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Valadares having to interfere. Luiz Paulo Travassos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armando Carvalho having to interfere.

The wind increased when Douglas Linares made the kick off in the second half. Caco Reis kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. If Rogério Tróia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cristiano Valadares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Carlos de Brito in the 58th minute of the match. After 62 played minutes Pompa got a freekick which was hit by Reinaldo de Castro. After 62 played minutes, Thiago F.C.'s Caco Reis shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Armando Carvalho came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Thiago F.C. reached it. After having played for 68 minutes, José Carlos de Brito managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pompa's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Carlos de Brito was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 70 minutes into the match, Thiago F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when José Carlos de Brito came free, but Cristiano Valadares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute, Thiago F.C.'s Douglas Linares ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Armando Carvalho. Armando Carvalho yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. When João Adolfo Ferreira came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Pompa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Adolfo Ferreira couldn't finish the play. João Adolfo Ferreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Valadares having to interfere. If Reinaldo de Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 79 minutes into the match, Thiago F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when João Adolfo Ferreira came free, but Cristiano Valadares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Pompa booed when Thiago F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raphael Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Thiago F.C.'s zone, João Adolfo Ferreira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. When the final whistle went the supporters of Thiago F.C. were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Pompa side.
