The ball went over the crossbar instead. 5 minutes into the game, Agostinho do Valle was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Corinthians's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pucazeiro EC the free kick. After 5 played minutes Corinthians got a freekick which was hit by Agostinho do Valle. If Isaltino de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Agostinho do Valle got his second yellow card in the match during the 11th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After a rather tough play, Corinthians's Agostinho do Valle got a free kick in the 12th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Corinthians's zone, Isaltino de Azevedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Álvaro Ortiz came out of the goal and Isaltino de Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edvaldo Quaresma recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edvaldo Quaresma fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Álvaro Ortiz having to interfere. Edvaldo Quaresma took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Álvaro Ortiz. Álvaro Ortiz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Isaltino de Azevedo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pucazeiro EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Isaltino de Azevedo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Álvaro Ortiz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Álvaro Ortiz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edvaldo Quaresma, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edmílson Maranhense charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edmílson Maranhense the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 40th match minute, Pucazeiro EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmílson Maranhense to maneuver through the defense. Falcão Cosme's late challenge caught a Pucazeiro EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Falcão Cosme helped the player get up and apologised. 43 minutes into the match, Corinthians's goal looked a bit too open when Edvaldo Quaresma came free, but Álvaro Ortiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edvaldo Quaresma sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edvaldo Quaresma stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In a very dangerous position, a player in Corinthians fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 55th minute. Penalty! In the 74th minute, Isaltino de Azevedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Edvaldo Quaresma managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pucazeiro EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Edvaldo Quaresma was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Álvaro Ortiz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Frederico Moreno hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. If Isaltino de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Isaltino de Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Álvaro Ortiz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edvaldo Quaresma sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 91 played minutes Corinthians got a freekick which was hit by Falcão Cosme. Falcão Cosme recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Pucazeiro EC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
