After a defensive mix-up in Iraceminha's zone, Didi Massa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erivaldo Valadares came out of the goal and Didi Massa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 9 played minutes Iraceminha got a freekick which was hit by Nilson Barros. In the 11th minute, Didi Massa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Erivaldo Valadares made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Giuseppe França sent off a good shot on target. Iraceminha's Erivaldo Valadares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Iraceminha from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Iraceminha getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Mauro Arósio hit a great ball. 18 minutes into the match, Waldir Hames sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Erivaldo Valadares threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Waldir Hames this time. The supporters of Melancias booed when Iraceminha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Vítor Mesquita didn't get a good kick on the ball. Giuseppe França sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Iraceminha's Erivaldo Valadares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Didi Massa in the 26th minute of play. Erivaldo Valadares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Didi Massa's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Mário Rodrigues hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Giuseppe França got free with Erivaldo Valadares in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Didi Massa in the 35th minute of play forced Iraceminha's goalkeeper Erivaldo Valadares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Betão Catarinense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeremias Mattos having to interfere. Didi Massa received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Erivaldo Valadares came out and tried to block the shot, but Didi Massa slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 39th minute. After having played for 46 minutes, Didi Massa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melancias's supporters crossed their fingers, but Didi Massa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Didi Massa struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Erivaldo Valadares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Melancias. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Didi Massa made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Valdomiro Paes during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 52nd match minute, Iraceminha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdomiro Paes to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Giuseppe França put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Erivaldo Valadares. The supporters of Iraceminha booed when Melancias was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Deivid Antunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 81st minute, Betão Catarinense got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
