But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gonçalo Arantes couldn't finish the play. After 6 played minutes Araguiana AD got a freekick which was hit by Valdomiro Cunha. Caco Cavalcante recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 11th minute of the game. One of Sampaio Corrêa F.C.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Araguiana AD:s goal. If Nilton Carioca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nilton Carioca who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 31stth minute tested the skills of Luís Jacinto when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Nilton Carioca's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luís Jacinto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. In the 44th minute of the match, Nilton Carioca got a very nice opportunity to score, but Luís Jacinto was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 46 minutes into the match, Sampaio Corrêa F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Gugu de Andrade came free, but Kauã Peres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Caco Cavalcante charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Caco Cavalcante the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nilton Carioca in the 54th minute of play forced Araguiana AD's goalkeeper Luís Jacinto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 55th minute, Araguiana AD's Gugu de Andrade dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-1. Gugu de Andrade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Kauã Peres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 64 minutes into the match, Nilton Carioca had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luís Jacinto. Araguiana AD's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nilton Carioca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After 67 played minutes Sampaio Corrêa F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Paulinho Linares. With a little luck, Sampaio Corrêa F.C.'s Kauã Peres got control of the ball when Caco Cavalcante tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sampaio Corrêa F.C.'s Moisés Vander got a free kick in the 69th minute. Kauã Peres was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Gugu de Andrade showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 72 minute of play. When Caco Cavalcante came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Araguiana AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caco Cavalcante couldn't finish the play. Nilton Carioca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nilton Carioca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Jacinto having to interfere. Kauã Peres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gugu de Andrade in the 89th minute of the match. 90 minutes into the game, Cipriano Soeiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sampaio Corrêa F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Araguiana AD the free kick. Cipriano Soeiro kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. The Araguiana AD supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Araguiana AD would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
