Jeremias Gonçalves started the match with the kick off. Fred Paes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Ronaldão Carvalho made a huge save. In the 13th match minute, Vila Real was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dagoberto Freire to maneuver through the defense. In the 14th minute, José Augusto Guedes sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Vila Real's Ronaldão Carvalho didn't even have to move. In the 16thth minute of the game Afonso Carvalho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rona's Luís Guilherme Barreto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Rona's Fred Paes got a free kick in the 19th minute. In the 21st minute of the match Edmílson Aguiar sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luís Guilherme Barreto skillfully saved the ball. Luís Guilherme Barreto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Afonso Carvalho's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. Luís Guilherme Barreto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeremias Gonçalves, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Rona's goal looked a bit too open when Jeremias Gonçalves came free, but Luís Guilherme Barreto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th minute, Douglas Madureira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luís Guilherme Barreto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonso Carvalho in the 42nd minute of play. Rona's Luís Guilherme Barreto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Marquez in the 44th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pedrinho Damião stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 52 minutes, Pedrinho Damião put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Ronaldão Carvalho. Jeremias Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ronaldão Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldo Lopez, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. In the 77th minute Ronaldo Lopez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldão Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luís Guilherme Barreto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeremias Gonçalves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 89th minute Ronaldo Lopez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldão Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
