If Sandrinho Cearense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 45 minutes into the match, Abuna's goal looked a bit too open when César Sena came free, but Valdir Nascimento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sandrinho Cearense stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Walmyr Corrêa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Abuna's supporters crossed their fingers, but Walmyr Corrêa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. César Sena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdir Nascimento having to interfere. If Pedrinho Cearense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kléberson Quirino came out of the goal and Sandrinho Cearense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kléberson Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandrinho Cearense in the 72nd minute of play. Serginho França charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Serginho França the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Abuna booed when Carai AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Serginho França didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sandrinho Cearense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Kléberson Quirino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. César Sena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Toninho das Neves's late challenge caught a Abuna's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Toninho das Neves helped the player get up and apologised. In the 90th minute there was a penalty for Abuna. Serafim Teixeira stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Kléberson Quirino. 2-1. Kléberson Quirino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandrinho Cearense in the 93rd minute of the match. Kléberson Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walmyr Corrêa in the 98th minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Abuna fans cheered their team off the field, for while Carai AD had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
