When Serginho Marquez came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Atlético Maneiro FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Serginho Marquez couldn't finish the play. When Hélio Tande fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Barroso's protests and gave Hélio Tande a yellow card for diving instead. Richard Vander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Medeiros in the 12th minute of the match. 13 minutes into the game, Cícero Barral was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Atlético Maneiro FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Barroso the free kick. After 13 played minutes Atlético Maneiro FC got a freekick which was hit by Cícero Barral. In the 20th minute, Hélio Tande hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Atlético Maneiro FC defense, Daniel Medeiros kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Richard Vander. The Atlético Maneiro FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Richard Vander should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isaltino Sampaio in the 30th minute of play forced Atlético Maneiro FC's goalkeeper Richard Vander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 31st minute Isaltino Sampaio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Richard Vander saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Atlético Maneiro FC's Cícero Barral got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Ulysses Maia took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 34th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Richard Vander. Atlético Maneiro FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Isaltino Sampaio in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Richard Vander saved Atlético Maneiro FC from getting behind. Richard Vander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Rui Bezerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Luiz Fábio Gaúcho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rui Bezerra was the one to do the kick off. Isaltino Sampaio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Atlético Maneiro FC's Richard Vander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Medeiros in the 61st minute of play. Serginho Marquez hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. In the 75th minute, Rui Bezerra left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atlético Maneiro FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Daniel Medeiros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 86thth minute of the game Daniel Medeiros who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atlético Maneiro FC's Richard Vander was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a little luck, Atlético Maneiro FC's Richard Vander got control of the ball when Isaltino Sampaio tried to sneak it across the goal line.
