The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Vermelhas AD getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Juninho Vinhas hit a great ball. Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP's defense didn't have a chance, in the 7th minute, when Agnaldo Netto scored to the left of an out of position Fiori da Mata, making the score, 1-0. In the 13th minute of the match Glauco Vaz sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rodriguinho de Lara skillfully saved the ball. In the 19th minute, Agnaldo Netto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vermelhas AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. The supporters of Vermelhas AD booed when Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinho Falcão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dinei da Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fiori da Mata having to interfere. When Vermelhas AD's Agnaldo Netto in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP's goalie prevented a goal. Tony Mendes kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. 30 minutes into the match, Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP's goal looked a bit too open when Agnaldo Netto came free, but Fiori da Mata reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ciro Arósio hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Paulo Meira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodriguinho de Lara having to interfere. After 37 played minutes Vermelhas AD got a freekick which was hit by Falcão Leme. Paulo Meira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 40 minutes, Paulo Meira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP and the Vermelhas AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Paulo Meira hit a great ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Almir Domingues to make the kick off. After 52 minutes, Wanderson Donato mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vermelhas AD and the Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP players grew even worse after the yellow card. Almir Domingues's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rodriguinho de Lara read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. When Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP's Almir Domingues in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 74th minute, Tony Mendes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 84 played minutes, Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP's Glauco Vaz shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rodriguinho de Lara came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP reached it. Rodriguinho de Lara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Almir Domingues in the 87th minute of play. Vermelhas AD's Rodriguinho de Lara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Vermelhas AD from getting a goal against them. Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP's Fiori da Mata played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agnaldo Netto in the 90th minute of play. Dinei da Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Fiori da Mata tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Vermelhas AD.
