The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Luiz Fernando Diniz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cido Urbano was out of position in the 6 minute of play, and Luiz Fernando Diniz capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Luiz Fernando Diniz really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Tostão Messias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Josué Teixeira having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in Pombal FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 12th minute. Penalty! Telmo Carioca shot the penalty kick right outside the post. If Tostão Messias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 17 minutes, Valdemar da Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Anisa Troopers F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valdemar da Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Remo Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fernando Diniz in the 44th minute of play forced Anisa Troopers F.C's goalkeeper Cido Urbano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Valdemar da Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Tostão Messias made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Anisa Troopers F.C getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Tostão Messias hit a great ball. 59 minutes into the match, Anisa Troopers F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Fernando Diniz came free, but Cido Urbano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 64 played minutes Pombal FC got a freekick which was hit by João Carlos de Amorim. Telmo Carioca, 65 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Josué Teixeira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Valdemar da Costa in the 72nd minute. Felippe Machado's late challenge caught a Pombal FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felippe Machado helped the player get up and apologised. 82 minutes into the game, one of Anisa Troopers F.C:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. If Remo Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 90th minute, Remo Garcia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pombal FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. After having played for 96 minutes, Tostão Messias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Anisa Troopers F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tostão Messias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. João Paulo Borges charged in rather forcefully in the 97th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed João Paulo Borges the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 98 minutes into the match, Anisa Troopers F.C's Telmo Carioca broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After 100 played minutes Pombal FC got a freekick which was hit by João Carlos de Amorim. Josué Teixeira was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 102nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Telmo Carioca. When the referee blew the final whistle, Pombal FC could leave the field as winners, despite Anisa Troopers F.C having more of the ball for most of the match.
