In the 70th minute, Arlindo de Queiroz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as CruzMaltino's Manfredo Monteiro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Reynaldo Messias. That made the score 0-1 after 77 minutes of play.
