Cabeçudo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Martim the free kick. Roberto Nogueira hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute Erik Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedrão Pontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Anselmo da Fonseca struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Pedrão Pontes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Martim. Cabeçudo's Roberto Nogueira got his second yellow card of the match in the 21st minute. The referee ordered Roberto Nogueira off the ground. Ulisses Gaúcho was a little too slow when Afonsinho Paiva got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 24th minute. The score was now 1-1. Pedrão Pontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anselmo da Fonseca in the 27th minute of play. A collision led to Cabeçudo getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Michel Neves hit a great ball. When Afonsinho Paiva came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Cabeçudo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Afonsinho Paiva couldn't finish the play. After 32 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Cabeçudo! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Erik Carvalho in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pedrão Pontes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Waldemar Teixeira's late challenge caught a Martim's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Waldemar Teixeira helped the player get up and apologised. In the 40th match minute, Cabeçudo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waldemar Teixeira to maneuver through the defense. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Afonsinho Paiva was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 57 minutes, Erik Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Martim's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erik Carvalho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Anselmo da Fonseca came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Martim fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anselmo da Fonseca couldn't finish the play. In the 62nd minute, Erik Carvalho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ademar Favoretto charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ademar Favoretto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 76th minute, Ademar Favoretto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Anselmo da Fonseca could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Pedrão Pontes made a huge save. Pedrão Pontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erik Carvalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. In the 90th minute, Erik Carvalho fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Erik Carvalho struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Pedrão Pontes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Martim. Martim played a much better game than Cabeçudo and deserved their victory. The Cabeçudo players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
