Ivo Quadros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Franklin Varela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivo Quadros in the 6th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Franklin Varela prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pedro Luís Teixeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franklin Varela having to interfere. Ivo Quadros scored 0-1 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Franklin Varela, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gil Tinoco hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Franklin Varela came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Flamengo FC's Ivo Quadros. But to his dismay, Ivo Quadros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Franklin Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivo Quadros, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Ramiro Medeiros came free with the goalkeeper in the 41st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Juninho Damião could save by the left post. Norberto de Lara hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. In the 47th minute Pedro Luís Teixeira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franklin Varela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ivo Quadros was the one to do the kick off. Franklin Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivo Quadros, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Pedro Luís Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Marins SC's Franklin Varela got control of the ball when Pedro Luís Teixeira tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ramiro Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juninho Damião having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Marins SC's goalkeeper Franklin Varela had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Luís Teixeira. 70 minutes into the match, Flamengo FC's Ivo Quadros sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Franklin Varela narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 77 minutes, Pedro Luís Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Flamengo FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro Luís Teixeira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Franklin Varela made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Pedro Luís Teixeira sent off a good shot on target. Ivo Quadros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Franklin Varela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 84th minute, Jorge Torres hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 85th minute of the match, Pedro Luís Teixeira got a very nice opportunity to score, but Franklin Varela was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Pedro Luís Teixeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franklin Varela having to interfere. Flamengo FC's Ivo Quadros got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Marins SC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Flamengo FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
