Carlos Augusto Dionísio hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Gil Rosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Evaristo Freitas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind E. C. Vila Mariana's goalkeeper Joélson Quadros, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 24th minute, Douglas Rosa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pedro Luiz Corrêa struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Joélson Quadros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itapage. If Douglas Rosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, E. C. Vila Mariana's Gil Rosa got a free kick in the 31st minute. 35 minutes into the game, Douglas Rosa recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Joélson Quadros. Douglas Rosa showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osvaldinho Esteves in the 40th minute of play forced Itapage's goalkeeper Evaristo Freitas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 46 minutes into the game, E. C. Vila Mariana's Luiz Fábio da Mata nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Evaristo Freitas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. The Itapage players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. E. C. Vila Mariana were winning 1-2.

In the 52nd minute, Douglas Rosa made a precise shot to the right of Joélson Quadros. E. C. Vila Mariana's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Pedro Luiz Corrêa struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Joélson Quadros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itapage. Gil Rosa's late challenge caught a Itapage's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gil Rosa helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to E. C. Vila Mariana getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Gil Rosa hit a great ball. Pedro Luiz Corrêa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Osvaldinho Esteves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Evaristo Freitas made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in E. C. Vila Mariana's zone, Pedro Luiz Corrêa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joélson Quadros came out of the goal and Pedro Luiz Corrêa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Evaristo Freitas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Fábio da Mata, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Itapage's Evaristo Freitas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Itapage from getting a goal against them. Pedro Luiz Corrêa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joélson Quadros read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. If Pedro Luiz Corrêa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pedro Luiz Corrêa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. When Pedro Luiz Corrêa came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Itapage fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Luiz Corrêa couldn't finish the play. With an all-out effort, E. C. Vila Mariana's Evaristo Freitas threw himself towards the right post 89 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luiz Fábio da Mata, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. With a little luck, Itapage's Evaristo Freitas got control of the ball when Osvaldinho Esteves tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 94th minute, E. C. Vila Mariana's Luiz Fábio da Mata ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Evaristo Freitas. Evaristo Freitas yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3.
