Jonas Saldanha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cacá Soares having to make a save. 7 minutes into the match, Divisopolis SC's goal looked a bit too open when Dionísio Mangueira came free, but Jânio Coutinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 11 minutes into the match, Solonopole SS's goal looked a bit too open when Zeca Rocha came free, but Cacá Soares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Solonopole SS's zone, Jonas Saldanha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cacá Soares came out of the goal and Jonas Saldanha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonas Saldanha in the 15th minute of play forced Solonopole SS's goalkeeper Cacá Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Genílson Britto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dionísio Mangueira in the 18th minute of play forced Divisopolis SC's goalkeeper Jânio Coutinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Divisopolis SC getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Alberto Pinho hit a great ball. Divisopolis SC's Jânio Coutinho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Divisopolis SC from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonas Saldanha in the 33rd minute of play forced Solonopole SS's goalkeeper Cacá Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Genílson Britto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jânio Coutinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dionísio Mangueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Dionísio Mangueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jânio Coutinho having to interfere. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Solonopole SS's goalkeeper Cacá Soares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zeca Rocha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by Solonopole SS's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alberto Pinho was slow to take the kick. During this time Divisopolis SC's players had a chance to rest. Alberto Pinho made a great header on Divisopolis SC's corner, it was just that Solonopole SS's Cacá Soares managed to reach the ball for a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Zeca Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Divisopolis SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Zeca Rocha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cacá Soares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Divisopolis SC's Jonas Saldanha got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Solonopole SS's Dionísio Mangueira got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cacá Soares came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by Divisopolis SC's Jonas Saldanha. But to his dismay, Jonas Saldanha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 70th minute, Dionísio Mangueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Divisopolis SC's Emerson Moura got a free kick in the 71st minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Percy Brasil during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Zeca Rocha was extremely unlucky when he, in the 89th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Solonopole SS's Cacá Soares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zeca Rocha in the 89th minute of play. 91 minutes had been played when some careless play by Solonopole SS's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alberto Pinho was slow to take the kick. During this time Divisopolis SC's players had a chance to rest. Emerson Moura was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Jonas Saldanha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
