The audience was convinced that Jorge Mazza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but João Pedro Matos was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. Rio Preto FC's João Pedro Matos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Mazza in the 7th minute of play. Cumbe EC's Miguel Brodel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Betinho Brodel in the 9th minute of play. 18 minutes into the game, Yan Souza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. João Pedro Matos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, Cumbe EC's Miguel Brodel got control of the ball when Amílton Linares tried to sneak it across the goal line. Betinho Brodel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Betinho Brodel came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Rio Preto FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Betinho Brodel couldn't finish the play. Cumbe EC's Jorge Mazza got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Cumbe EC's Jorge Mazza got a free kick in the 41st minute. In the 44th minute, Yan Souza made a precise shot to the right of João Pedro Matos. Rio Preto FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. After the first half Cumbe EC were leading 1-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Betinho Brodel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Rio Preto FC's João Pedro Matos got control of the ball when Jorge Mazza tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 52ndth minute of the game Yan Souza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rio Preto FC's João Pedro Matos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 54th minute, José Maria Branco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 55 minutes into the game, Jorge Mazza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-5. In the 73rd minute Amílton Linares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Brodel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. João Pedro Matos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jorge Mazza in the 78th minute. Jorge Mazza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jorge Mazza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. João Pedro Matos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The long shot by Agnaldo Dias in the 94th minute really tested João Pedro Matos's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After 95 minutes, Cauã Branco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rio Preto FC and the Cumbe EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Cumbe EC booed when Rio Preto FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cauã Branco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rio Preto FC's João Pedro Matos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yan Souza in the 96th minute of play.
