But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gugu Oliveira couldn't finish the play. Joélson Macedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. André Mota fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luciano Eger having to interfere. After 23 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Saboo EC! The supporters of Saboo EC booed when Gato was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rubinho de Brito didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 29 minutes of play, Saboo EC's Márcio Pombal made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luciano Eger was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 35 minutes, Zé Augusto Valladares mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gato and the Saboo EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 35 played minutes Gato got a freekick which was hit by Zé Augusto Valladares. After some careless play in the Saboo EC defense, Gugu Oliveira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Júnior Couto. The Saboo EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Júnior Couto should have stopped the shot. Joélson Macedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Júnior Couto having to interfere. When Carlos Alberto Linares fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Saboo EC's protests and gave Carlos Alberto Linares a yellow card for diving instead. Carlos Alberto Linares kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. The Saboo EC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Gato were winning 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when André Mota stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Conrado Pontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 58 minutes into the match, Gato's Gugu Oliveira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Júnior Couto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. André Mota received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Luciano Eger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in Saboo EC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 78th minute. Penalty! Saboo EC:s Júnior Couto showed great skill when he stopped Marcelo Teles:s penalty. 94 minutes into the match, Saboo EC's goal looked a bit too open when Joélson Macedo came free, but Júnior Couto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 98 minutes into the game, André Mota cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2.
