The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lenílson Valladares kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. 12 minutes into the match, Ja matei saudade's Cássio Torres broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When Paulinho Prestes fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Papageios's protests and gave Paulinho Prestes a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ja matei saudade booed when Papageios was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulinho Prestes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Papageios's zone, Fabiano das Neves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Fonseca came out of the goal and Fabiano das Neves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Zézinho Ceresso kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Pedro Fonseca. That made the score 1-0 in the 27 minute of play. In the 31stth minute of the game Carlos Severo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ja matei saudade's Leonardo Luz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Carlos Severo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

54 minutes into the match, Papageios's Teodoro Proença sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Leonardo Luz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ja matei saudade's Leonardo Luz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Ja matei saudade from getting a goal against them. 57 minutes into the match, Ja matei saudade's goalkeeper Leonardo Luz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carlos Severo. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Hamílton de Queiroz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ja matei saudade's supporters rose to their feet, but Hamílton de Queiroz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Fonseca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 63 minutes into the match, Papageios's goal looked a bit too open when Zézinho Ceresso came free, but Pedro Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 64th minute, Fabiano das Neves made a precise shot to the right of Pedro Fonseca. Papageios's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. 77 minutes into the game, Albertinho Pontes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Papageios's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ja matei saudade the free kick. In the 76th minute, one of Papageios:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Papageios. The referee gave Ja matei saudade a penalty, 78 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Cássio Torres, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Papageios's Pedro Fonseca. 3-0. Fabiano das Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Severo got free with Leonardo Luz in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ja matei saudade fans cheered their team off the field, for while Papageios had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
