After a rather tough play, Martelo's Sérgio Meirelles got a free kick in the 5th minute. Patrick Luz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aírton Cardoso in the 12th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Martelo's goal looked a bit too open when Hélder Bittencourt came free, but Gualter França reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Aírton Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aírton Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Martelo's Eugênio Zonta got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carlos Augusto de Lara hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Aírton Cardoso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Martelo's supporters rose to their feet, but Aírton Cardoso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patrick Luz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 30th minute, Aírton Cardoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Patrick Luz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aírton Cardoso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aírton Cardoso might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Patrick Luz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aírton Cardoso ran back to his position shaking his head. Eugênio Zonta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Tamanqueira's Gilberto Pires in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Martelo's goalie prevented a goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gilberto Pires made a kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Tamanqueira's goal looked a bit too open when Aírton Cardoso came free, but Patrick Luz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Gugu da Silveira fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tamanqueira's protests and gave Gugu da Silveira a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Tamanqueira's Gugu da Silveira got a free kick in the 55th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Hélder Bittencourt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tamanqueira's supporters rose to their feet, but Hélder Bittencourt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gualter França breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gilberto Pires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gualter França having to interfere. A collision led to Martelo getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Eugênio Zonta hit a great ball. Carlos Augusto de Lara took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 64th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gualter França. Martelo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Aírton Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 72nd match minute, Tamanqueira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Pedro Veloso to maneuver through the defense. When Martelo's Tiago Rezende in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Tamanqueira's goalie prevented a goal. Martelo's Tiago Rezende got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Tamanqueira's Zé Pedro Veloso got a free kick in the 87th minute. Gilberto Pires recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Aírton Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 96th match minute, Tamanqueira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Pedro Veloso to maneuver through the defense.
