When Riachao's Roger da Costa in the 3rd minute got a chance for a shot 3rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ajax's goalie prevented a goal. Riachao's Rubinho Catarinense got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, Roger da Costa took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Gildo Saraiva to make any attempt to save it. Gildo Saraiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roger da Costa in the 8th minute of play. Rubinho Catarinense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gildo Saraiva having to interfere. Richard Antunes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Donato Abreu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kiko Tinoco charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kiko Tinoco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Richard Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivo Linares in the 25th minute of play. 30 minutes into the game, Donato Abreu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ajax's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Riachao the free kick. The supporters of Riachao booed when Ajax was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donato Abreu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wilson Gomes hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Gildo Saraiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roger da Costa in the 39th minute of the match. Ivo Linares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Richard Antunes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alan Tavares hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Roger da Costa to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ajax's goalkeeper Gildo Saraiva, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Bernardo Prata hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Gildo Saraiva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvério Senna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 60 minutes of play Ajax's Bernardo Prata was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Riachao booed when Ajax was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardo Prata didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kaká Alcântara took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 61st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gildo Saraiva. Ajax's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 66 minutes into the match, Ajax's goal looked a bit too open when Rubinho Catarinense came free, but Gildo Saraiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ivo Linares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Richard Antunes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 77th match minute, Riachao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvério Senna to maneuver through the defense. If Ivo Linares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sandrinho Pinheiro hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. If Donato Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Riachao booed when Ajax was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vito Paraibano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ajax's Gildo Saraiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rubinho Catarinense in the 98th minute of play. Riachao were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Ajax for a fine match.
