José Maria Santana took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nelson Tavares. Nelson Tavares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. José Maria Santana struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Nelson Tavares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Moju. Silvinho Goiano kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. In the 25th minute Claudinho Simão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Tavares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Maria Santana in the 27th minute of play forced Barreiras's goalkeeper Nelson Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute, José Maria Santana ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nelson Tavares was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. After some careless play in the Barreiras defense, José Maria Santana kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nelson Tavares. The Barreiras fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nelson Tavares should have stopped the shot. André Luiz Novaes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Joélson de Andrade tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Moju's Claudinho Simão, in the 44th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Moju. After the first half Moju were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cleiton Tinoco made a kick off. Nelson Tavares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Claudinho Simão in the 52nd minute. In the 66th minute, Moju's José Maria Santana dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-5. Barreiras's Nelson Tavares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Maria Santana in the 88th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Claudinho Simão got free with Nelson Tavares in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 100th minute, Rômulo Linares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the final whistle sounded Moju left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Barreiras.
