Haroldo de Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reginaldo Paraense having to interfere. The supporters of Azevedo SS booed when Sebastiana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilson Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. Reginaldo Paraense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doriva Marques, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Leopoldo Massa's late challenge caught a Azevedo SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leopoldo Massa helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Sebastiana getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Leopoldo Massa hit a great ball. In the 23rd minute, Humberto Cruz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Humberto Cruz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Azevedo SS had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
