Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Lenílson Toledo got the match started through his kick off. Marcelo Marquess short, quick shot in the 6thth minute got Natã da Fonseca to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Rene Rivero stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lenílson Toledo's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. Marcelo Marques recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rene Rivero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nilmar Linhares, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Rene Rivero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilmar Linhares in the 22nd minute of play. The supporters of Vasco da Gama booed when Faveirinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseu Moraes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 25thth minute of the game Durval Paranaense who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Faveirinha's Rene Rivero was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lenílson Toledo in the 26th minute of play forced Faveirinha's goalkeeper Rene Rivero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Faveirinha getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Eliseu Moraes hit a great ball. The supporters of Vasco da Gama booed when Faveirinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gugu Albuquerque didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rene Rivero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Rocha in the 30th minute of the match. In the 36th minute Durval Paranaense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rene Rivero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Nilmar Linhares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rene Rivero. Faveirinha's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nilmar Linhares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 43rd minute, Rafael Palmeira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Natã da Fonseca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Paulo Botelho, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After 45 played minutes Vasco da Gama got a freekick which was hit by Nilmar Linhares. Faveirinha's Eliseu Moraes got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Faveirinha players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Vasco da Gama were winning 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marcelo Marques to strike the kick off in the second half. Durval Paranaense took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rene Rivero. Rene Rivero dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind Faveirinha's goalkeeper Rene Rivero, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rene Rivero made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Durval Paranaense sent off a good shot on target. 64 minutes into the match, Faveirinha's goalkeeper Rene Rivero had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rafael Palmeira. In the 66th minute of the match, Nilmar Linhares tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rene Rivero saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Marcelo Marques struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Natã da Fonseca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Faveirinha. Marcelo Marques received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Natã da Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 71 minutes into the match, Régis de Barros notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Vasco da Gama's Natã da Fonseca. Natã da Fonseca was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Eliseu Moraes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rene Rivero made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nilmar Linhares in the 80th minute. Natã da Fonseca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelo Marques in the 85th minute of the match. Rene Rivero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lenílson Toledo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 87 minutes into the match, Faveirinha's goalkeeper Rene Rivero had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Durval Paranaense. The audience was convinced that Lenílson Toledo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rene Rivero was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. If Marcelo Marques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vasco da Gama's Natã da Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelo Marques in the 93rd minute of play. Durval Paranaense's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Rene Rivero firmly grabbed it by the left post. The Vasco da Gama supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Vasco da Gama would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
