But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manuel Valadares couldn't finish the play. Robinho Meira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manuel Valadares's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. After 9 minutes, Zé Paulo Koehler mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atlético Gaucho and the Jitirana EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 9th match minute, Atlético Gaucho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Paulo Koehler to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético Gaucho's zone, Dário Tasso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chiquinho Machado came out of the goal and Dário Tasso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Abelardo de Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Natanael Galvão in the 16th minute of play forced Jitirana EC's goalkeeper Robinho Meira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18thth minute of the game Zé Paulo Koehler who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Jitirana EC's Robinho Meira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 25th minute, Natanael Galvão left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atlético Gaucho fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Natanael Galvão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robinho Meira having to interfere. Robinho Meira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Natanael Galvão in the 40th minute of play. Manuel Valadares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Robinho Meira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 44 played minutes Jitirana EC got a freekick which was hit by Baltazar Netto. Atlético Gaucho's Chiquinho Machado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Atlético Gaucho from getting a goal against them.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Natanael Galvão was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Jitirana EC's goalkeeper Robinho Meira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Manuel Valadares. Manuel Valadares received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Robinho Meira came out and tried to block the shot, but Manuel Valadares slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 94th minute. Atlético Gaucho's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
