Edmílson de Senna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Pedro Tavares in the 10th minute of the match. Vasco SA's supporters rose to their feet, but Cafu de Brito was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nelson Magalhães breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eduardo Garcia was the one to do the kick off. Nelson Magalhães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cafu de Brito in the 56th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eduardo Garcia in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nelson Magalhães prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Didi Camargo hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Eduardo Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Magalhães having to interfere. Cafu de Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cafu de Brito recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduardo Garcia in the 84th minute of play forced Reboco Futebol Arte's goalkeeper Nelson Magalhães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 90 minutes into the match, Vasco SA's Eduardo Garcia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nelson Magalhães narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nelson Magalhães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cafu de Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vasco SA's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
