Cristiano Coelho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gravatá were awarded a corner in the 15th minute after C P D Aço Minas's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Wellington Guedes took the corner. Wellington Guedes made a great header on Gravatá's corner, it was just that C P D Aço Minas's Gil Gonçalves managed to reach the ball for a save. 17 minutes into the match, Lauro Fernandes notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Gravatá's Flavinho Ribeiro. Flavinho Ribeiro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. C P D Aço Minas's Lauro Fernandes got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Flavinho Ribeiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lauro Fernandes in the 22nd minute of play. Maicon Tróia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavinho Ribeiro having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Gravatá's Sérgio Cardoso got a free kick in the 27th minute. In the 32nd minute, Cristiano Coelho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gil Gonçalves was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Luís Fábio do Nascimento charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luís Fábio do Nascimento the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Gravatá booed when C P D Aço Minas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Fábio do Nascimento didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 45 played minutes, C P D Aço Minas's Laerte de Mendonça shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Flavinho Ribeiro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in C P D Aço Minas reached it. 48 minutes into the match, C P D Aço Minas's goal looked a bit too open when Diamantino Aguiar came free, but Gil Gonçalves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Diamantino Aguiar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Maicon Tróia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the C P D Aço Minas defense, Diamantino Aguiar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gil Gonçalves. The C P D Aço Minas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gil Gonçalves should have stopped the shot. Lauro Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristiano Coelho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Diamantino Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Remo Bueno during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Gravatá getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Remo Bueno hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Gravatá's Rafa dos Santos got a free kick in the 75th minute. Gil Gonçalves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diamantino Aguiar in the 82nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in C P D Aço Minas's zone, Cristiano Coelho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gil Gonçalves came out of the goal and Cristiano Coelho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dinei Varela hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Diamantino Aguiar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Cristiano Coelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diamantino Aguiar in the 93rd minute of play forced C P D Aço Minas's goalkeeper Gil Gonçalves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
