Flavinho Ribeiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Guilherme Tande, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Flavinho Ribeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geovani Lago, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joel Jacinto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 25th minute, Diamantino Aguiar fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Albertinho Oliveira, passed just outside the right post. A collision led to VOLTA REDONDA getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Conrado Severo hit a great ball. After 29 played minutes VOLTA REDONDA got a freekick which was hit by Conrado Severo. Wellington Guedes was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 29th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Joel Jacinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavinho Ribeiro having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Luiz Guilherme Tande managed to get in a good position for a shot. VOLTA REDONDA's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Guilherme Tande was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Flavinho Ribeiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 45th match minute, Gravatá was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafa dos Santos to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, VOLTA REDONDA's Geovani Lago tried to score from far away in the 46th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Diamantino Aguiar made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Diamantino Aguiar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albertinho Oliveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rafa dos Santos's late challenge caught a VOLTA REDONDA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rafa dos Santos helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Gravatá getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Rafa dos Santos hit a great ball. When Joel Jacinto came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the VOLTA REDONDA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Jacinto couldn't finish the play. VOLTA REDONDA's Albertinho Oliveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano Coelho in the 65th minute of play. Luiz Guilherme Tande's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 67thth minute, Flavinho Ribeiro skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gravatá's goalkeeper Flavinho Ribeiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Flavinho Ribeiro made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Luiz Guilherme Tande sent off a good shot on target. In the 75th minute VOLTA REDONDA were awarded a corner. Geovani Lago went to the cornerflag to take it. 79 minutes into the match, Gravatá's goalkeeper Flavinho Ribeiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luiz Guilherme Tande. Kléberson Santana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 93rd minute, Geovani Lago got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match was over VOLTA REDONDA could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Gravatá throughout the match.
