Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Agenor de Almeida got the match started through his kick off. 4 minutes into the game, Mendes EC's Nando Seco nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dênis Rosado made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. A collision led to Dianopolis getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Andrézinho Tasso hit a great ball. With his leg Durval Neves managed to avoid a goal in the 13thth minute, when Dianopolis's Agenor de Almeida fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Durval Neves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Agenor de Almeida's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. Agenor de Almeida's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 21stth minute, Durval Neves skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Dianopolis's Dênis Rosado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernandinho Quintal in the 24th minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, João Adolfo Chaves was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Dianopolis's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mendes EC the free kick. Andrézinho Tasso received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Durval Neves came out and tried to block the shot, but Andrézinho Tasso slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 33rd minute. Adhemar Rosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Durval Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dênis Rosado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernandinho Quintal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Dianopolis booed when Mendes EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulysses Cordeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nando Seco to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, João Adolfo Chaves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dianopolis's supporters rose to their feet, but João Adolfo Chaves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Durval Neves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 59th minute Agenor de Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Durval Neves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 60 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Mendes EC! Durval Neves went to the wrong direction when Adhemar Rosa was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Adhemar Rosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Mendes EC's João Pedro Tróia got a free kick in the 68th minute. Durval Neves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adhemar Rosa in the 70th minute of the match. After 72 played minutes Dianopolis got a freekick which was hit by João Adolfo Chaves. Nando Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dênis Rosado having to interfere. Afonsinho Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Durval Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Agenor de Almeida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Durval Neves having to interfere. If Agenor de Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Agenor de Almeida in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Durval Neves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Despite being the better team, Dianopolis failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
