Válter Cavalcante came out and tried to block the shot, but Raí Arantes slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 5th minute. When Nicacio's Raí Arantes in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cruzeiro EC's goalie prevented a goal. Eduardo Paraíba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Cássio Cardozo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 23rd minute, Felippe Porto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cássio Cardozo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teodoro Britto, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. After a rather tough play, Nicacio's Ezequiel Netto got a free kick in the 35th minute. 39 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro EC's goalkeeper Válter Cavalcante had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carlos Soares. In the 39th minute, Nicacio's Carlos Soares dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Ezequiel Netto got his second yellow card in the match during the 42nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Ezequiel Netto kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Eurico Alvarenga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Raí Arantes was the one to do the kick off. After 53 played minutes Cruzeiro EC got a freekick which was hit by Dieguinho Braga. Cássio Cardozo made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Teodoro Britto sent off a good shot on target. Róbson Maranhense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cássio Cardozo having to interfere. Teodoro Britto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Raí Arantes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Válter Cavalcante was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. Cássio Cardozo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Teodoro Britto in the 84th minute. Raí Arantes struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Válter Cavalcante didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nicacio.
