The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Fausto Souto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Varela having to interfere. In the 11th minute, Tião Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Contendas getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Paulinho Baiano hit a great ball. 20 minutes into the match, Contendas's goal looked a bit too open when Duarte Rosa came free, but Geovânio Ferraz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fausto Souto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Alfredo Varela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Contendas's Carlinhos Zanette slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Alfredo Varela. That made the score 1-0 after 25 minutes of play. After a defensive mix-up in Contendas's zone, Duarte Rosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geovânio Ferraz came out of the goal and Duarte Rosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, PINGUINS ABANDONANDO JOGO's Alfredo Varela got control of the ball when Fausto Souto tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 45th minute, Fausto Souto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 46 played minutes PINGUINS ABANDONANDO JOGO got a freekick which was hit by João Quirino. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Duarte Rosa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Alfredo Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlinhos Zanette, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luan Nunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geovânio Ferraz having to interfere. Carlinhos Zanette sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fausto Souto in the 63rd minute of play forced PINGUINS ABANDONANDO JOGO's goalkeeper Alfredo Varela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 67 played minutes PINGUINS ABANDONANDO JOGO got a freekick which was hit by João Quirino. In the 68th minute, Marcos Braga sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and PINGUINS ABANDONANDO JOGO's Alfredo Varela didn't even have to move. 71 minutes into the game, Nilson Vander was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. PINGUINS ABANDONANDO JOGO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Contendas the free kick. In the 71st match minute, PINGUINS ABANDONANDO JOGO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nilson Vander to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute, Fausto Souto made a precise shot to the right of Alfredo Varela. PINGUINS ABANDONANDO JOGO's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Fausto Souto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 88th minute, Luan Nunes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
