The Submarino Amarelo fans' excitement grew in the 10th match minute when Submarino Amarelo's Lourenço Antunes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. After 17 minutes, José Pedro Quirino mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Submarino Amarelo and the ABA SOCCER CLUB players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Submarino Amarelo's José Pedro Quirino got a free kick in the 17th minute. Lourenço Antunes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 20 minutes, Afonsinho Donato managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Submarino Amarelo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Afonsinho Donato was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gualter Moraes walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Lourenço Antunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hernani Guimarães having to interfere. Jonas Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Franklin Maranhense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. ABA SOCCER CLUB's Bebeto de Senna shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 46th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Franklin Maranhense but with some difficulty. Patrício Rocha hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lourenço Antunes was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, ABA SOCCER CLUB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aírton de Sena to maneuver through the defense. Hernani Guimarães was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Júlio Miranda. Hernani Guimarães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lourenço Antunes in the 58th minute of play. In the 72nd minute, Submarino Amarelo's Lourenço Antunes dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Patrício Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Submarino Amarelo's supporters rose to their feet, but Patrício Rocha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hernani Guimarães breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hernani Guimarães was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Afonsinho Donato showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-4 in the 81 minute of play.
