When Lúcio Freitas fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cedro Futbol Club's protests and gave Lúcio Freitas a yellow card for diving instead. Dinei Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Fábio Varela having to interfere. Luís Fábio Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilberto Oliveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dudu Carioca was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Tomé Vianna. In the 41st minute, one of MDP Team:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for MDP Team. The goalkeeper, Dudu Carioca, was totally fooled by Cedro Futbol Club's Artur Goiano, who 44 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The supporters of MDP Team booed when Cedro Futbol Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonardo Dionísio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gilberto Oliveira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Luís Fábio Varela made a huge save. Luiz Paulo Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Dudu Carioca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 57 played minutes MDP Team got a freekick which was hit by Léo Arruda. With a little luck, Cedro Futbol Club's Luís Fábio Varela got control of the ball when Gilberto Oliveira tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 67th minute Léo Arruda suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Cedro Futbol Club's Lúcio Freitas got his second yellow card of the match in the 68th minute. The referee ordered Lúcio Freitas off the ground. After 69 played minutes Cedro Futbol Club got a freekick which was hit by Lúcio Freitas. After 71 played minutes Cedro Futbol Club got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Paulo Rossi. In the 75th minute, Valdir Pimenta made a precise shot to the right of Luís Fábio Varela. Cedro Futbol Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. When Gilberto Oliveira, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 92 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Luís Fábio Varela was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. If Dinei Mendonça had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
